Casting Call Tips for New Actors and Actresses
November 22, 2010 in Casting Call Tips by admin
If you are new to the struggle of making it big (or even just slightly successful) as an actor or actress, then it’s important you do some research on what you’re getting into when trying to make it big in acting.
1. Be Real about the acting industry
New actors and actresses need to understand that making it big in acting is rare – very very rare. In fact, you will be lucky if you can even land yourself a role in a quality production. That is the first thing you need to be aware of when getting into acting.
2. Learn to love acting and theater
Going along with the previous tip, it’s important to love acting as an art if you ever hope to be happy with a career in acting. If you’re getting into acting with dreams of a Bentley and paparazzi, then you will most likely be discouraged. If you love acting, you will always enjoy what you do and then even if you don’t accomplish your dreams – you’re still doing what you love. If you love acting, act… If you just want to be famous, maybe Reality TV Casting is a better option for you.
3. Follow your Acting Dream
Did we make you pessimistic with our previous casting call tips? They weren’t meant to be tips, moreso a wake up call. That being said, it happens to some actors and actresses. And some actually luck out with very fast success. If it doesn’t happen for you, keep at it. Maybe the next casting call is your destiny?
4. Show up to casting calls on time
Believer it or not, it’s not just about acting. It’s about how well you will work with the director. Get there on time to show a good example. The casting director is a person and people judge on many factors.
5. Don’t be afraid of your first casting call
Here’s a great casting call tip. Go to your first casting call 100% expecting not to get the part. Don’t stress at all. Go to the casting call with a curiosity on what casting calls are like. Be excited for your first casting call, don’t dread it.
6. Investigate every casting call opportunity
Don’t hold out for a casting call for the lead role in a major production movie (you probably won’t be able to find them anyway). Go out as a movie extra or be a supporting role in a film student’s short movie.
7. Learn form Experienced Actors and Actresses
New actors and actresses have a lot to learn. Why not learn from other acting talent that has gone through the path to either acting success or failure? Learn casting call advice from those who are on a path to where you want to be. Learn what not to do from others who have failed in their acting career.
